 Previously, centers of cultural events
in the village were the Houses of Culture, where all
the cultural events used to take place; such as performances,
visits by touring entertainers, cinema films etc. There
was a folklore group, female singing quoir, and permanent
cinema films which used to greatly enrich the cultural
life of the community.
Lately, the cultural life of the people is on a very low level. Due to their
work overload, fighting for their own survival, they function as if they do not
have time for cultural activities, for nice music, or the written word. The same
thing can be said for the young people who are less involved in the school clubs
while their cultural life is almost completely non - existent. The previous matinee
dances and parties can not be found nowadays, as well as the well attended cinemas
films and the holiday performances. Now it all gets down to a visit to the several
cafes which exist in the community. Normally, this situation is also due to the
general economic crisis in the country. Yet the need to do something in this
area for future is more than evident.
Anyway, as far as the houses of culture are concerned, there is one in each of
the three villages, whereas the House of Culture in Zrnovci is completely equipped
for playing films in the cinema, for theatre and other kinds of performances.
There is one other public institution in Zrnovci, and that is the so called " Sokolana " ,which
has been redecorated by the town's Council, but for the time being is not used
for any kind of cultural activities.
As far as the activities in the non-governmental
sector are concerned, since March '97 the
Environmental organization "Javor" from
Zrnovci has been successfully functioning. It has
got about 170 members.
It also has a junior club which works in the Primary
School " Todor Arsov ". So far it has successfully
accomplished two projects: Eco- picture of Zrnovci-'97,
and International Eco - camp Plackovica '98. Two other
projects are also in the process of realization. They
are " Stop for the illegal dumps " which
started in January '99 and is going to be completed
in October '99 as well as the project " Sustainable
development of the community Zrnovci" which started
in june '99 and is going to be completed in december
'99. This study is actually within its frames. The
Environmental organization will continue the realization
of these and further projects, thus contributing the
solution of the environmental problems in the community
and broader. In July '99 another non-governmental organization
was founded and that is The Hunter's Association " Kukla" from
Zrnovci.

In the field of sport the football team "Zrnovka" from
Zrnovci is active, and it competes in a league between
communities, and it has its own stadium with football
pitch and dressing room. Within the frames of this
club, there is also a football club for juniors.
The
volleyball that used to exist in the past and used
to achieve excellent results on the inter-regional
league does not exist anymore. On the days of the national
holidays, as well as the school name holidays "Todor
Arsov" sport competitions and tournaments are
held in the school yard.

The river
and the river bed of Zrnovka is a treasure of priceless
value for the community. Even further that it is relatively
non polluted and rich in living things. The exploration
was performed in 1977 by the professional team of the Institute
of Biology at the Faculty of Natural Science and Mathematics
in Skopje led by D-r Pance Stojanov using the results,
an environmental study was made under the title "Estimation
of the quality of the waters of the river Zrnovka and its
evaluation" . It points at the high level of oxygen
( O2 ) in the river waters (14 mg/l ) and the existence
of the exclusively rare species of the type Diploneis
petersenii which had not been
stated in the micro-flora of Macedonia, that is, the river
Zrnovka is the first locality in Macedonia
in which this species is registered. Namely, it is spread
mainly in the northern regions of Europe (Island, Finland,Norway
) as well as the high mountain massive's ( the Alps and
the Pirineyas ).
Along the river bed and generally on the slopes of the mountain Plackovica, there
are several picnic places where the local people go on state holidays or weekends
("Kukov rid","Brana", "Devicev vir", "Vrsnik" etc.)
National rarities worth mentioning are: Buovicka and Poganecka spring, with especially
cold mountain water of high quality; The wild poplar in Vidoviste ; Suljov marsh
- natural pool where the children swim in the summer etc.
Another important thing to mention is the existence of the endemic river trout
and the crab fish which can be found in the upper flow of the river Zrnovka.

On the territory
of the community the following monasteries exist: Holy
Week in Zrnovci ; Saint Spas and Saint Petka in Vidoviste,
and Saint Simeon in Morodvis. The church that exists in
Zrnovci is Saint Dimitrij.
There are also monuments of fallen fighters in Zrnovci and Vidoviste. In the
village of Morodvis there is an archaeological site "Crkviste" discovered
in 1980. It is the mediaeval town Morobizdon which had been cultural,
economic, church and political center of East Macedonia. The current exploration
is focused
on the church - episcopal complex. So far have been discovered the following
remains: a church from Samoil's period, more than 350 mediaeval graves, and a
great quantity of jewelry, ceramics and other materials. Four churches are maintained
- the oldest one dating from the 13 th century. They were richly decorated by
frescos and mosaics.
It is planned to complete the exploration of the complex, and its conservation
and presentation to the wide public audience in the country as well as the world.
The Department for protection of the cultural monuments from Kocani is entitled
to its maintenance and presentation.
